The video, which had more than 50,000 views on Facebook, shows John Dinoto, 74, of New London asking Angell Whittington if she needs a ride, according to News 8.
Dinoto served almost 20 years of a 45-year sentence for multiple counts of sexual assault of a child in the 1990's, according to the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry database. He was released in 2009 but arrested again in 2013 for trying to lure another teen.
Whittington told News 8 that she wasn't afraid for herself, but for someone younger who might be tricked into getting into his vehicle.
New London Police told Fox61 that they have talked to him about it, but it is not against the law to offer someone a ride.
Even his family are upset by having to deal with the backlash from having a sex offender in the family.
A brother and a nephew told Fox61 they are angry one of their own is a sex offender and that he's a "scumbag."
Family members also said Dinoto, who goes by various names, has been hiding in the house since the video came out.
One young woman who said she was a victim of Dinoto's, told Fox61 she lives with the memories of being abused and wished he was back in jail.
Police told Fox61 that anyone who is approached by Dinoto they should run away.
